FRITZ!Repeater reports "The search for a new FRITZ!OS version failed"

It is not possible to determine whether a new FRITZ!OS is available. After you click the "Find New FRITZ!OS" button, the message "The search for a new FRITZ!OS version failed" is displayed in the user interface.

Cause

  • Temporary problem with the internet connection or AVM Update Server.

Repeat the search later or perform the update manually as described here.

1 Downloading the FRITZ!OS File

  1. Call up download.avm.de/fritzwlan/ in your web browser.
  2. Switch to the folder for your repeater model. There are two different versions of the FRITZ!Repeater 600. If it says "v2" on the type label on the bottom of the device, switch to the folder "fritzrepeater-600v2".
  3. Switch to the subfolder "deutschland" and "other" and then to the folder "fritz.os".
  4. Download the file with the extension ".image" to the computer.

2 Installing the latest FRITZ!OS

  1. Click "System" in the user interface of the FRITZ!Repeater.
  2. Click "Update" in the "System" menu.
  3. Click on the "FRITZ!OS file" tab.
  4. Click the "Browse..." or "Choose File" button.
  5. Select the update file you downloaded (image file).
  6. Click the "Start Update" button.
