Using the FRITZ!Repeater in a home network without a DHCP server

By default, the FRITZ!Repeater obtains its IP settings from the wireless router (for example FRITZ!Box) via DHCP. If you want to use the FRITZ!Repeater in a home network without a DHCP server, you must manually configure the IP settings.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Repeater.

1 Preparing the device

For the duration of the setup, assign the following IP settings to the device you want to use to configure the FRITZ!Repeater:

  1. Enter 192.168.178.200 as the IP address in the device.
  2. Enter 255.255.255.0 as the subnet mask in the device.
  3. Enter 192.168.178.2 as the standard gateway in the device.
  4. Enter 192.168.178.2 as the DNS server in the device.

2 Assigning static IP settings to FRITZ!Repeater

  1. Connect the FRITZ!Repeater to the FRITZ!Box or the router via Wi-Fi.

Important:When setting up the connection, the FRITZ!Repeater adopts the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) of the FRITZ!Box or the router. Therefore, connect the devices to the Wi-Fi network of the FRITZ!Box or router after setting up the FRITZ!Repeater.

  2. Click "Network" in the user interface of the FRITZ!Repeater.
  3. Click "Network Settings" in the "Network" menu.
  4. Enable the option "Configure the IP address manually".
  5. Enter the IP settings in the corresponding fields.
  6. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

Now the FRITZ!Repeater uses static IP settings. Return the device you used to configure the FRITZ!Repeater to its original IP settings.
