Setting up a USB printer connected to FRITZ!Box as a network printer

You can make a USB printer connected to the FRITZ!Box available to all computers and many other devices (for example an Android smartphone or tablet) in the home network as a network printer.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • The USB printer must be able to receive data in RAW format (unidirectional RAW over TCP).

Note:USB printers that require encapsulated or bidirectional data transmission (for example some GDI or LIDIL printers) cannot be used as network printers with the FRITZ!Box. The manufacturer can provide you with information on how the USB printer functions.

  • Apple iOS devices (iPhone, iPad or iPod touch) can only use printers that support Apple's AirPrint technology.

Important:Some of the settings described here are only displayed if the advanced view is enabled in the user interface. The configuration procedure and notes on functions given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS
