Using Google calendar for automatic switching

You can set up automatic switching for smart home devices, for example FRITZ!DECT or FRITZ!Powerline, that then switches the socket on and off according to times entered into a Google calendar. The switching point schedule is synchronized with the Google calendar at regular intervals, which means that you can add switching times to your Google calendar at any time.

Automatic switching can either be configured for individual smart home devices or for a group with several FRITZ!DECT devices.

Important:The instructions given in this guide refer to setting up switching for FRITZ!DECT using the FRITZ!Box user interface. If you would like to switch the FRITZ!Powerline socket, you must perform the same steps, but use the user interface of your FRITZ!Powerline adapter instead. You cannot use the FRITZ!Box user interface to set up switching for FRITZ!Powerline.

1 Creating a calendar

  1. Create a calendar for your Google account and give it a name of your choice, for example "Socket switching".

Important:The name of the calendar may only contain standard Latin letters and numbers; it may not contain any special characters, spaces or umlauts.

  2. Enter the times at which the socket should be turned on and off: Name the time at which the socket is to be turned on "ON" and the time at which it is to be turned off "OFF". These names are not case sensitive. You can also enter switching times later.

Note:You must allow for at least one minute between switching and can configure a maximum of 140 switching points per day.

2 Adding a calendar

  1. Click "Home Network" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Smart Home" in the "Home Network" menu.

  8. Click "OK" to save the settings.
    • The window "Enable FRITZ!Actuator Calendar" containing a verification URL and a user code opens.
  9. Click on the link "Verification URL" and leave the "Enable FRITZ!Actuator Calendar" window open.
    • A window for signing into your Google account opens.
  10. Enter the e-mail address and password for your Google account and click "Sign in".
    • The entry field for the user code appears.
  11. Enter the user code from the "Enable FRITZ!Actuator Calendar" window and click "Next".
  12. Click "Allow".
  13. Switch to the window "Enable FRITZ! Actuator Calendar".

Automatic switching is enabled when the message "The authentication process for the Google Calendar on the FRITZ!Box" appears in the user interface.

3 Synchronizing the calendar
