Configuring time synchronization (NTP) for FRITZ!Box and network devices

You can configure an NTP (Network Time Protocol) time server on the Internet in the FRITZ!Box. The FRITZ!Box then synchronizes its time with the specified time server. In addition, the FRITZ!Box itself provides a time server that your computer and other devices in the home network can then obtain the exact time from.

Note:NTP time servers measure the Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). The FRITZ!Box adds one or two hours to the UTC, which means that it uses CET or daylight saving time which is valid for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and other central European countries.

Important:Some of the settings described here are only displayed if the advanced view is enabled in the user interface.

1 Configuring the FRITZ!Box

  1. Click "Home Network" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Home Network Overview" in the "Home Network" menu.
  3. Click on the "Network Settings" tab.
  4. Enter the NTP time server on the Internet that the FRITZ!Box should synchronize its time with.

Note:Normally it is not necessary to change the pre-configured NTP time server 0.europe.pool.ntp.org. You can find a list of alternative NTP time servers here.

  5. Enable the option "Making FRITZ!Box available as a time server in the home network".
  6. Click "Apply" to save your settings.
