FRITZ!Fon suddenly turns off or suddenly restarts

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the issue persists.

1 Installing the latest software for your telephone

2 Recharging the telephone battery

  • Fully charge the telephone battery. Leave the telephone in the charging cradle for at least 12 hours.

3 Resetting the telephone and re-registering all telephones

The issue may be caused by inconsistent settings in the FRITZ!Box or the FRITZ!Fon (for example due to repeatedly registering and deregistering the telephone or after updating the software). Therefore, restore the relevant FRITZ!Fon to factory settings and then use the Wizard for telephony devices to re-register all cordless telephones to the FRITZ!Box:

Deleting telephones

  1. Click "DECT" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Cordless Telephones" in the "DECT" menu.
  3. Click the corresponding button (Delete) to delete all of the cordless telephones that are registered.

Restoring the telephone to its factory settings

  1. Press the "Menu" key on the telephone.
  2. Scroll to "Settings" and press "OK".
  3. "Reset" > "OK" > "OK"

Turning telephones off

  • Turn all of the cordless telephones off.

Restarting the FRITZ!Box

  1. Click "System" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Backup" or "Reset" in the "System" menu.
  3. Click on the "Restart" tab (if available).
  4. Click the "Restart" button.

4 Replacing the rechargeable battery

If the issue persists despite trying all of the measures in this document, then the rechargeable battery is defective. Therefore, replace the battery:

You can purchase a genuine replacement battery from a specialized dealer. Using so-called aftermarket batteries that are not originals, like the kind available over the Internet, may damage your FRITZ!Fon.

Important:Rechargeable batteries wear out because they are subject to a natural aging process as physical and chemical changes occur within the battery; this is why they are not covered by the warranty (see warranty in the manual).
