Reading and sending e-mails

You can configure up to 10 e-mail accounts in the FRITZ!Box. FRITZ!Fon then notifies you when you receive new e-mails; it can display up to 16 e-mails for each e-mail account and up to a total of 128 e-mails for all accounts. If you are using several telephones, you can configure a different account for each FRITZ!Fon.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • The FRITZ!Fon must be registered with a FRITZ!Box.
  • You must use an e-mail account with a POP3 e-mail server.
  • POP3 download must be enabled with your e-mail provider.

    Note:You can enable download in your e-mail account settings. Your e-mail provider can provide you with information on the procedure.

Note:The configuration procedure and notes on functions given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for your FRITZ!Box.

1 Setting up e-mail accounts

  1. Click "DECT" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Web Services" or "Internet Services" in the "DECT" menu.
  3. Click the "New E-mail Account" button.
  4. Enter your e-mail address and password.
  5. Enter your user name and your e-mail account's POP3 server.

    Note:In most cases the user name and the POP3 server entries are filled in automatically. For smaller local providers, enter the POP3 server manually.

  6. Enable the option "This server supports a secure connection (SSL)" if necessary.
  7. Click on the "Additional Settings" tab.
  8. Define how often the FRITZ!Box should retrieve e-mails from the incoming mail server. The retrieval interval may be between 5 minutes and 24 hours.
  9. If you would like to be notified when you receive new e-mails, enable the option "Automatically signal new e-mail on the FRITZ!Fon".

    Note:When new e-mails arrive, the telephone will beep, the LED will flash red, and the envelope icon is shown in the display.

  10. If you want, enable the option "Allow e-mail to be sent from FRITZ!Fon cordless telephones".
  11. Enter the name of your e-mail provider's SMTP server.
  12. Enable the option "The SMTP server supports a secure connection (SSL)" if necessary.
  13. Enter a name that does not contain special characters in the "Name of sender" field.
  14. If you would like to be able to delete e-mails with the telephone, enable the option "Deletion of read e-mail on FRITZ!Fon enabled" and specify whether e-mails can only be deleted from the telephone's display or whether they can also be deleted from your e-mail inbox with your provider.
  15. If a PIN should be required to access your e-mails on the telephone, enable the option "Protect e-mail access with a PIN" and define a PIN.
  16. If several FRITZ!Fons are registered with the FRITZ!Box, define whether the e-mails from this account should be displayed on all or only on certain telephones.
  17. Click "OK" to save the settings.

2 Reading e-mail

  1. Press the "Menu" key on the telephone.
  2. Scroll to "Internet services" and press "OK".
  3. "E-mail" > "OK"

3 Sending e-mails

  1. Press the "Menu" key on the telephone.
  2. Scroll to "Internet services" and press "OK".
  3. "E-mail" > "OK" > "Options" > "New e-mail" > "OK"
  4. Enter a subject line and the text of the e-mail.
  5. Press "Options".
  6. If you saved the recipient's e-mail address in the telephone book, select "Telephone book".
    • If you would like to enter the e-mail address manually, select "Send to mailing list" and enter the recipient's address.
  7. "Options" > "Send" > "OK"

    Note:E-mails sent with your FRITZ!Fon will not be displayed in the outbox of your e-mail account.

4 Deleting an e-mail account

The following steps are only necessary if you no longer would like to use a particular e-mail account:

Deleting an e-mail account in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Click "DECT" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Web Services" or "Internet Services" in the "DECT" menu.
  3. Click the button (Delete) for the respective e-mail account.
  4. Click the "OK" button.

Restarting the FRITZ!Box

  1. Click "System" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Backup" or "Reset" in the "System" menu.
  3. Click on the "Restart" tab (if available).
  4. Click the "Restart" button.

The e-mails will no longer be displayed on the telephone.
