Configuring push services

With the push service you can have e-mails containing the connection and usage data of the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater sent to you on a regular basis or when certain events occur. Then the FRITZ!WLAN Repeaters notifies you when a new FRITZ!OS is available, for example, or it automatically sends you a backup file with your settings before every FRITZ!OS update.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • You must use an e-mail account with a POP3 e-mail server.
  • POP3 download must be enabled with your e-mail provider.

    Note:You can enable download in your e-mail account settings. Your e-mail provider can provide you with information on the procedure.

Note:The configuration procedure and notes on functions given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater.

1 Entering e-mail account information

  1. Click "System" in the user interface of the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater.
  2. Click "Push Service" in the "System" menu.
  3. Click on the "Sender" tab.
  4. Enter the user name for the e-mail account in the "E-mail user name" field.
  5. Enter the password for your e-mail account in the "Password" field.
  6. Enter the SMTP server in the "SMTP server" field.
  7. In the "Port" field, enter the port used by the server to communicate, for example 587, if the server does not use port 25 to communicate. Your e-mail provider can tell you what to enter for the SMTP server.
  8. Enable the option "This server supports a secure connection (SSL)" if the server supports it.
  9. Enable the option "Send a test e-mail to the given sender to make sure that the account data were entered correctly."
  10. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
    • A test e-mail is sent to the e-mail address you entered.

2 Enabling push services

  1. Click "System" in the user interface of the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater.
  2. Click "Push Service" in the "System" menu.
  3. Click the button (Edit) for each of the push services that you would like to use.
  4. Enable the option "Push service enabled" and configure each individual push service (for example the e-mail address the push service mail should be sent to).
  5. Click "OK" to save the settings.
