FRITZ!WLAN Repeater 300E Serwis - Baza wiedzy
Connecting the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater with a router (e.g. FRITZ!Box) over LAN
Connect your FRITZ!WLAN Repeater with the router (for example a FRITZ!Box) in your home network over LAN to make a wireless network (WiFi) available to routers without wireless capabilities or ones outside the wireless range of your wireless router. In this case, the repeater serves as a LAN bridge that enables you to integrate network devices with wireless capabilities (for example notebooks, smartphones, tablets) into your home network.
Note:If you would like to use the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater within your wireless router's wireless range to extend it easily and efficiently, configure it for use as a wireless bridge.

Note:The configuration procedure and notes on functions given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater.
1 Configuring the repeater
Loading the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater factory settings
The repeater must be set to factory settings in order to configure the following settings. If this is not the case, load the factory settings first:
- Load the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater factory settings.
Connecting a wireless device to the repeater
- Plug the repeater into an outlet near the wireless router to configure it and wait until the "WLAN" LED remains lit.
- Use a wireless device (for example a notebook, tablet, smartphone) to search for wireless networks in the vicinity.
- Connect it to the wireless network "FRITZ!WLAN Repeater [...]". Enter 00000000 (8 zeros) for the wireless network (password).
Changing the connection type to LAN bridge
- Open the user interface of the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater.
- Set a password to access the user interface, then click "OK" and "Next".
- Enable the option "LAN bridge" and click "Next".
- Select which IP settings the repeater should use and click "Next".
- Enter the wireless settings for the repeater and click "Next".
ATTENTION!To ensure optimal security, use a long combination of at least 16 alphanumerical characters for the network key.
Note:If you use the same wireless network name and identical wireless settings for the repeater and the FRITZ!Box, wireless devices can automatically connect to the device (FRITZ!Box or FRITZ!WLAN Repeater) with the strongest signal (wireless roaming). Not all wireless devices support wireless roaming. Should you have questions, consult the manufacturer of the wireless device. All FRITZ!WLAN Sticks support wireless roaming.
- Click "Finish" to save the settings.
2 Connecting the repeater to the router
- Use a network cable to connect the repeater to a LAN port on your router.
Note:If you cannot directly connect the devices with a cable, you can also bridge the distance to the repeater with a powerline connection (for example with FRITZ!Powerline).
3 Selecting the frequency band for the wireless network
When configured for the operating mode "LAN bridge", the 2.4 GHz frequency band is automatically enabled in the repeater for the wireless network. Since the 5 GHz frequency band is subject to interference much less frequently, you can also switch to the 5 GHz frequency band if necessary:
Note:Not all wireless devices support the 5 GHz frequency band.
FRITZ!WLAN Stick AC 430, FRITZ!WLAN Stick AC 860 and FRITZ!WLAN Stick N (v2) support the 5 GHz frequency band.
- Click "Wireless" ("WLAN") in the user interface of the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater.
- Click "Radio Channel" in the "Wireless" ("WLAN") menu.
- Enable the option "Adjust radio channel settings".
- Select the standard "802.11n+a" from the "Wireless standard" drop-down list in order to enable the 5 GHz frequency band.
Note:The 2.4 GHz frequency band is enabled if you select any other wireless standard (for example 802.11n+g+b).
- Confirm the message displayed with "OK".
- Click "Apply" to save the settings.
Now the LAN connection between the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater and router is set up. Wireless devices (for example notebooks, tablets, smartphones) can connect to the repeater's wireless network.
