Connect your FRITZ!WLAN Repeater with the wireless router in your home network to increase the wireless range easily and efficiently.

Follow the instructions in the section that describes the desired scenario.

1 Using WPS to set up the wireless connection

If you are using a FRITZ!Box or a different wireless router that supports WPS, you can connect them safely and conveniently at the touch of a button:

Note:For the instructions on connecting with WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), we used a FRITZ!Box as an example. Should you have questions on using PBC (Push Button Configuration) with other wireless routers that support WPS, consult the respective manufacturer.

  1. Plug the repeater into an outlet near the FRITZ!Box.
  2. Wait until the "Power" and "WLAN" LEDs on the repeater remain lit.
  3. Push and hold the "WPS" button for 6 seconds until the "WLAN" LED on the repeater starts to flash.

Important:Let go of the button as soon as the "WLAN" LED flashes. If you push the button too long, all of the LEDs will light up briefly and the factory settings are loaded.

  4. Now start the WPS function on the FRITZ!Box within two minutes. The procedure depends on how the button is labeled:
    • If the FRITZ!Box has a "WPS" or "WLAN/WPS" button:
      • Push and hold the "WPS" or "WLAN/WPS" button until the "WLAN" LED starts to flash.
    • If the FRITZ!Box does not have a "WPS" button:
      • Push and hold the "WLAN" button until the "WLAN" LED starts to flash.

If you did not assign a password to your repeater yet, then the repeater takes on the password and user name, if applicable, of the FRITZ!Box user interface if the latest FRITZ!OS is installed on both devices.

One or more LEDs indicating signal strength remain lit on the repeater once the configuration of the wireless connection between the repeater and the wireless router has been completed. You can then unplug the repeater and plug it in wherever you want. The repeater's settings remain intact even when it is unplugged.

2 Setting up the wireless connection manually

If your wireless repeater does not support the WPS procedure, use the Configuration Wizard to set up the connection manually:

Loading the factory settings of the repeater

The repeater must be set to factory settings in order to configure the following settings. If this is not the case, load the factory settings first:

Connecting a wireless device to the repeater

  1. Plug the repeater into an outlet near the wireless router to configure it and wait until the "WLAN" LED remains lit.
  2. Use a wireless device (for example a notebook, tablet, smartphone) to search for wireless networks in the vicinity.
  3. Connect it to the wireless network "FRITZ!WLAN Repeater [...]". Enter 00000000 (8 zeros) for the wireless network (password).

Configuring the repeater

  1. Open the user interface of the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater.
  2. Select the desired language and click "Next". Now the repeater restarts and you will be automatically redirected to the user interface.
  3. Set a password to access the user interface, then click "OK" and "Next".

Important:If you do not set a password, then the repeater takes on the password and user name, if applicable, of the FRITZ!Box user interface if the latest FRITZ!OS is installed on both devices.

  4. Enable the connection type "Wireless Bridge" and click "Next".
  5. From the list, select the wireless network of your wireless router that you would like to extend and click "Next".
  6. Select the encryption type, enter the wireless router's network key and click "Next".
  7. Click "Finish" to save the settings.

One or more LEDs indicating signal strength remain lit on the repeater once the configuration of the wireless connection between the repeater and the wireless router has been completed. You can then unplug the repeater and plug it in wherever you want. The repeater's settings remain intact even when it is unplugged.
