Configuring a computer to automatically obtain IP settings (DHCP)

The computer with the FRITZ!WLAN Stick needs specific IP settings automatically assigned by the FRITZ!Box's DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server in order to communicate with the FRITZ!Box. For this, you must first configure the computer to automatically obtain IP settings (DHCP client).

Windows 10

  1. Click "Start" and then "Settings" in the Windows task bar.
  2. Click "Network & Internet" in the "Settings" menu.
  3. Click "Change adapter options" in the "Change your networking settings" section.
  4. Click on the arrow next to the button (Change view) in the menu bar and select "Details".
  5. Right-click the connection that lists the FRITZ!WLAN Stick under "Device Name".
  6. Click "Properties".
  7. Select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)".
  8. Click "Properties".
  9. Enable the options "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically".
  10. Click "OK" to save the settings.
