Cannot import a VPN settings file

A VPN settings file created with the Configure FRITZ!Box VPN Connection software cannot be imported into the FRITZ!Box. When you click "OK", the VPN configuration is not applied and displayed in the list of VPN connections under "Internet > Permit Access > VPN". The FRITZ!Box does not display an error message.

Cause

  • Due to an error in FRITZ!OS 7.02, it is not possible to import a VPN settings file if the VPN settings file was created on a computer from which the FRITZ!Box already imported a VPN settings file.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Creating a file with VPN settings on a different computer

  1. Download the Configure FRITZ!Box VPN Connection software from our VPN service page and install it on a different computer.
  2. Use Configure FRITZ!Box VPN Connection to create new VPN settings files for the new VPN connections.

2 Importing the VPN settings into FRITZ!Box

  1. Click "Internet" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Permit Access" in the "Internet" menu.
  3. Click on the "VPN" tab.
  4. Click the "Add VPN Connection" button.
  5. Click "Import a VPN configuration from an existing VPN settings file" and then "Next".
  6. Click "Choose File".
  7. Select the file "fritzbox_[...].cfg" created with the Configure FRITZ!Box VPN Connection software and click "Open".
  8. Click "OK" to save the settings and on the FRITZ!Box, confirm that the procedure may be executed if asked to do so.
