Cannot access the internet over the FRITZ!Box's guest access

Although devices can register with the FRITZ!Box's guest access, they cannot access the internet over the guest access.

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem is solved.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the FRITZ!Box 6820 LTE v2 and v3 with the latest FRITZ!OS, the FRITZ!Box 6820 LTE v1 may vary.

1 Opening an HTTPS page in the web browser

If the option "Permit login with guest access/hotspot only after consent to terms of use" is enabled, users must agree to the terms of use before being allowed to access the internet. However, the captive portal with terms of use is only displayed if an HTTPS page is opened:

  1. Call up an HTTPS page, for example https://en.avm.de/, in your web browser. Now the FRITZ!Box displays the captive portal for guest access.
  2. Agree to the terms of use of the guest access.

2 Disabling the option "Restrict internet applications"

The following steps are only necessary if only individual applications cannot access the internet:

  1. Click "Wi-Fi" ("Wireless") in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Guest Access" in the "Wi-Fi" menu.
  3. Enable the guest access.
  4. Disable the option "Restrict internet applications".
