Accessing the FRITZ!Box over the internet

You want to set up remote access for the FRITZ!Box and access the user interface via the Internet, for example? ✔ Find out how to do that here.

You can set up secure access to your FRITZ!Box over the internet. This way you can access the FRITZ!Box's call list as well as documents and media files in FRITZ!NAS or configure settings in the FRITZ!Box user interface.

To protect you against unauthorized access, internet access to the FRITZ!Box is possible only via an encrypted HTTPS connection (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) and requires the entry of a username and password.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • For IPv4 internet access, the FRITZ!Box must obtain a public IPv4 address from the internet service provider.
  • For IPv6 internet access, the FRITZ!Box must obtain an IPv6 address from the internet service provider.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

2 Using MyFRITZ! to access the FRITZ!Box

  1. Call up myfritz.net in a web browser.
  2. In the corresponding fields, enter the email address and MyFRITZ! password you used to register with MyFRITZ!, and click "Log In".

  3. Solve the CAPTCHA.
  4. In the MyFRITZ! device overview, click on the FRITZ!Box you want to access.
    • You will now be redirected to the MyFRITZ! home page of the FRITZ!Box.
  5. If the web browser says that the connection is not trusted or not safe, acknowledge the security warning as follows:

    Note:The connection to the FRITZ!Box does not pose a security risk. The web browser only displays this warning because the FRITZ!Box's individual security certificate is unknown to third party providers that issue such certificates.

    • Google Chrome: "Advanced > Proceed to [...].myfritz.net (unsafe)"
    • Mozilla Firefox: "Advanced > Add Exception... > Confirm Security Exception"
    • Microsoft Edge: "Continue to this webpage (not recommended)"
    • Microsoft Internet Explorer: "Continue to this website (not recommended)"
    • Apple Safari: "Continue"
  6. Enter the password that you entered when setting up your MyFRITZ! account for the FRITZ!Box user and click "Log In".

The MyFRITZ! home page for your FRITZ!Box is now called up and you can access the Call List, messages on the FRITZ!Box answering machine, FRITZ!NAS contents as well as the FRITZ!Box user interface.
