The name of the caller is not displayed for incoming calls

Although the caller is entered in the FRITZ!Box telephone book, only the caller ID or an incorrect name is displayed for a caller when an incoming call is received.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem is solved.

1 Entering your location information

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephone Numbers" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click on the "Line Settings" tab.
  4. Select your country from the drop-down list under "Location Information". If your country is not listed, select "Other country".
  5. For the "Country code", enter the leading zeros in the first field and the country code in the second field (for example, enter "00" and "49" for Germany, see fig.).
  6. For the "Area code", enter the leading zero in the first field and the area code in the second field (for example enter "0" and "30" for Berlin, see fig.).

  7. Click "Apply" to save the settings and on the FRITZ!Box, confirm that the procedure may be executed if asked to do so.

2 Entering the telephone number with area code

To distinguish the numbers, you must also enter the area code for contacts within your own area code:

  1. Enter the telephone number with the area code for the relevant telephone book entry.

3 Adjusting the number format

  1. The telephone numbers must be entered in the telephone book in a format supported by the FRITZ!Box.

    Example:
You can enter the telephone number 987654321 from the area code for Berlin (030) as follows: 004930987654321, 030987654321 or +4930987654321. The format (49)030987654321 is not supported, though. The telephone number may also not end with a "#". It is not necessary anyway to shorten the dialing process with telephone numbers that are saved in the FRITZ!Box telephone book.
