Setting up FRITZ!Box for use with an Enegan line

The FRITZ!Box is optimally prepared for use with Enegan. Simply connect the FRITZ!Box to the DSL line and enter your personal account information in the FRITZ!Box user interface.

The complete FRITZ!Box range of functions for internet, telephony, and multimedia is then available to all of the devices in your home network without restriction.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Having your account information ready

  1. Have your personal account information for internet access and the login information for telephony that you received from Enegan ready.

    Note:Enegan sent you the account information via email after you concluded the contract with them. If you did not receive your account information, contact Enegan.

2 Connecting the FRITZ!Box

  1. Insert the DSL cable (Y cable) into the "DSL" socket on the FRITZ!Box.
  2. Insert the cable end "DSL 1" into the DSL socket, leave the cable end "DSL 2" hanging. If you are using the FRITZ!Box on a VDSL bonding line, also insert the cable end "DSL 2" into the VDSL bonding socket.

3 Configuring the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Click "Internet" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Account Information" in the "Internet" menu.
  3. Select "Enegan" from the drop-down list "Internet service provider". If you cannot select Enegan:
    1. Select "other internet service provider" from the drop-down list.
    2. Enable the option "Connection to a DSL line" in the "Connect via" area.
  4. Enter the account information you received from Enegan in the relevant fields.
  5. If you selected the entry "other internet service provider", click "Change Connection Settings", enable the option "Use VLAN for internet access", and enter 835 in the field "VLAN ID".
  6. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
  7. Now the FRITZ!Box checks whether an internet connection can be established with the account information you entered. Configuration is complete as soon as the message "The internet connection check was successful" is displayed.

    Important:If the internet connection check fails, your internet access may not have been activated yet. In this case, contact Enegan.

4 Setting up telephony in the FRITZ!Box

Configuring telephone numbers

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephone Numbers" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click the "New Telephone Number" button.
  4. Select "Enegan" from the drop-down list.
  5. Enter your telephone number including the area code by "Internet telephone number" (for example 061234567).
  6. Enter your telephone number including the area code by "Username".
  7. For the "Password", enter the password you received from Enegan.
  8. Click "Next" and follow the wizard's instructions.

Assigning telephone numbers

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephony Devices" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click the (Edit) button for the respective telephony device.

    Important:If the telephony device was not configured yet, click the "Configure New Device" button and follow the wizard's instructions.

  4. From the drop-down list "Outgoing Calls", select the number to be used by the telephony device for making outgoing calls. If you do not select a telephone number, the number entered under "Telephony > Telephone Numbers > Line Settings" is used for making calls.
  5. Select the telephone numbers to which the telephony device should react when you receive calls. You can select up to ten numbers (including the number for outgoing calls).
  6. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
