Setting up FRITZ!Box for use with an Open Sky line

The FRITZ!Box is optimally prepared for use with Open Sky. Simply connect the FRITZ!Box to the internet connection and enter your personal account information in the FRITZ!Box user interface.

The complete FRITZ!Box range of functions for internet, telephony, and smart home is then available to all of the devices in your home network without restriction.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Asking for account information

  1. Contact Open Sky's customer service to have them give you your personal account information for internet access and the login information for telephony.

2 Connecting the FRITZ!Box

  1. Insert the DSL cable into the "DSL" socket on the FRITZ!Box and into the DSL line.

3 Configuring the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Enter the FRITZ!Box password given on the type label of the FRITZ!Box and click "Log In".
  3. Click "Internet" and then "Account Information".
  4. Select "other internet service provider" from the drop-down list.
  5. Enable the option "Connection to a DSL line" in the "Connect via" area.
  6. Enter the account information you received from Open Sky in the relevant fields.
  7. Click "Change connection settings".
  8. If you are using the FRITZ!Box on an ADSL line:
    1. Enable the option "Set manually" in the "DSL ATM Settings" section.
    2. Enter 1 in the field "VPI" and 32 in the field "VCI".
    3. Enable the option "PPPoE".
    • If you are using the FRITZ!Box on a VDSL line:
      1. Enable the option "Use VLAN for internet access".
      2. Enter 2 in the field "VLAN ID".
  9. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
  10. Now the FRITZ!Box checks whether an internet connection can be established with the account information you entered. Configuration is complete as soon as the message "The internet connection check was successful" is displayed.

    Important:If the internet connection check fails, your internet access may not have been activated yet. In this case, contact Open Sky.

4 Setting up telephony in the FRITZ!Box

Configuring telephone numbers

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephone Numbers" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click the "New Telephone Number" button.
  4. Select "OpenSky/Messagenet" from the drop-down list.
  5. Enter +39 followed by your telephone number (for example 39061234567) by "Internet telephone number".
  6. Enter the login information you received from Open Sky by "Username" and "Password".
  7. Click "Next" and follow the wizard's instructions.

Assigning telephone numbers

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephony Devices" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click the (Edit) button for the respective telephony device.

    Important:If the telephony device was not configured yet, click the "Configure New Device" button and follow the wizard's instructions.

  4. From the drop-down list "Outgoing Calls", select the number to be used by the telephony device for making outgoing calls. If you do not select a telephone number, the number entered under "Telephony > Telephone Numbers > Line Settings" is used for making calls.
  5. Select the telephone numbers to which the telephony device should react when you receive calls. You can select up to ten numbers (including the number for outgoing calls).
  6. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
