FRITZ!Box USB remote connection reports "Check the user name and password"

The FRITZ!Box USB remote connection software displays the message "Check the user name and password". This means that you cannot connect USB devices to the computer using the FRITZ!Box USB remote connection.

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem is solved.

1 Updating the FRITZ!Box USB remote connection

  1. Right-click the FRITZ!Box USB remote connection symbol in the notification area of the Windows taskbar (Systray).
  2. Select "Update this Program" from the context menu of the FRITZ!Box USB remote connection.
  3. If a newer version of the software is found, install it.

    Note:If it is not possible to update, you can still use the FRITZ!Box USB remote connection by entering the user name and password of a FRITZ!Box user.

2 Using the correct account information

  1. If you log in to your FRITZ!Box with the FRITZ!Box password, enter the password and leave the "Username" field blank.
    • If you enter a name and password to log in to the FRITZ!Box, enter the name and password of a user who is authorized to access the FRITZ!Box settings.

      Note:You can edit the account information and access rights of users under "System > FRITZ!Box Users" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
