Adding background images and contact pictures using FRITZ!Fon

The FRITZ!Box allows you to add your own images to telephone book entries that you use often. When those parties call, the corresponding pictures are then displayed on the display of your telephone. You can also configure your own background image for each telephone that is then displayed in standby mode. You can simply upload the images with the FRITZ!Box user interface and transmit them to the telephones.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • The FRITZ!Fon must be registered with a FRITZ!Box. The FRITZ!Box 7412 and FRITZ!Box 7312 do not support this function.
  • No DECT repeaters from other manufacturers are registered with the FRITZ!Box.
  • With the FRITZ!Box 7510 and some older FRITZ!Box models, a USB storage device must be connected to the FRITZ!Box to use the function and the USB remote connection may not be enabled for USB storage media under "Home Network > USB / Storage > USB Remote Connection" in the user interface.
  • You can add up to 256 contact pictures.
  • Contact pictures can only be added to telephone books that are directly saved in the FRITZ!Box. With online telephone books, the pictures assigned to contacts in the online telephone books are displayed.
  • The pictures must be in JPEG file format.

Note:We recommend a resolution of at least 240x320 pixels for the images, with an ideal aspect ratio of 1:1. When you save an image as JPEG in image editing software, we recommend using "baseline" encoding (usually the default).

DECT encryption must be enabled to use convenience functions with your FRITZ!Fon:

  3. Enable the option "Permit only secure DECT connections (recommended)" in the section "Security".

  7. Click "Apply" and "OK" to save the settings.
