Updating FRITZ!OS of the FRITZ!Smart Gateway

There are several ways to install the latest FRITZ!OS for your FRITZ!Smart Gateway: either quickly and easily with one of the two "online update" functions, or manually if an online update is not possible:

Online update using the FRITZ!Box user interface
Online update using the user interface of the FRITZ!Smart Gateway
Manual update using the user interface of the FRITZ!Smart Gateway

1 Using the FRITZ!Box user interface to update

Click "Home Network" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
Click "Mesh" in the "Home Network" menu.
Click "Perform update" next to the FRITZ!Smart Gateway.

2 Using the user interface of the FRITZ!Smart Gateway to update

Click "System" in the user interface of the FRITZ!Smart Gateway.
Click on "Update" in the "System" menu.
Click on the "FRITZ!OS Version" tab.
Click the "Find New FRITZ!OS" button.
Click the "Start Update" button.

3 Updating manually

If you cannot use the "online update" function, for example when the FRITZ!Smart Gateway is not connected to the internet, update manually:

Downloading the FRITZ!OS File

Call up download.avm.de/fritzdect/fritzsmart-gateway/ in your web browser.
Switch to the subfolder "deutschland" and then to the folder "fritz.os".
Download the file with the extension ".image" to the computer.

Installing the latest FRITZ!OS

Click "System" in the user interface of the FRITZ!Smart Gateway.
Click on "Update" in the "System" menu.
Click on the "FRITZ!OS file" tab.
Click the "Browse..." or "Choose File" button.
Select the update file you downloaded (image file).
Click the "Start Update" button.
